Mairi was born in Glasgow, Scotland and began playing music at age 8, starting with classical violin and, from the age of 11, was introduced to traditional music through the St Roch’s Irish Minstrels CCE on the fiddle. As she continued to pursue music, Mairi’s range of instruments has expanded and previous performances have included fiddle, harp, piano, tin whistle, flute and voice.

​Through involvement with groups such as St Roch’s, the Southside Fiddlers and various junior and senior orchestras, Mairi has amassed a wealth of experience playing across the UK and in Europe, including music festivals such as Celtic Connections, the Scots Fiddle Festival, Doune the Rabbit Hole, Comrie Fortnight, Linlithgow Folk Festival, the St Patrick’s Day Festival in Glasgow’s Merchant Square and IMBOLC; and professional performances including the 100 Fiddles 55˚ North concert with well-known musicians including Liz Doherty, Zoe Conway, Maggie Maguire, Oisín Mac Diarmada and Dylan Foley. Mairi has also represented Scotland and Britain at national and international music competitions, winning Scottish and British titles in various competitions over the past 6 years.


Mairi toured with the Fèis Fhoirt Cèilidh Trail (run by Feisean nan Gaidheal) performing at over 30 events during a three-week period including concerts, festivals, sessions and private events and recording an album which was released in 2019.

Mairi has a Diploma in Traditional Music Performance with the University of West London after previously completing her Grade 8 with Distinction.
